Toxicogenomics in Yeast

We use next generation sequencing technology in tandem with functional profiling in yeast to identify toxicity pathways and genes important in response to chemical exposure . We are focusing on heavy metals (e.g. copper, cadmium, iron), organic solvents (TCE, benzene), as well as pesticides and emerging contaminants ( biofuels, flame retardants). By identifying the pathways most important in response to a toxicant, more targeted endpoints i.e DNA damage can be assayed to determine the potential adverse health effects.
